Roque Cinchado is a well known balancing rock at the foot of Mt Teide, the highest mountain in Spain and the islands of the Atlantic Ocean.

This balancing rock is one of the Roques de Garcia, the remnants of a volcanic dyke, an intrusion of lava in a crack. The lower level level is softer and has eroded more the the upper portion leaving a natural balancing rock. The hike around the Roques de Gracia is revarding as it shows the amaving landfors created by volcanoes and erosion.
The image of Cinchado and Teide is the iconic signature of Tenerife. It appears on the cover of our hiking guide, on the old 100 Pesetas banknote, in tourist guides, on placemats etc
