The Diocesan Offices are in the north wing of the Gatehouse entrance to the Bishop's Palace, The Bishop's Eye, and currently are co-occupied by Harris & Harris, a firm of solicitors. The building has an early C20th facade to C15th internal fabric, but in a C17th style of Doulting ashlar stone, with Broughton Moor slates in diminishing courses and a coped gable to the north.
It is a Graded II listed building of two storeys and a basement and three bays wide. There are cruciform ovolo-mould windows with rectangular leading to all but lower bay one, with rectangular leaded panes. The entrance in bay one has a wide two-panelled door with a two-pane fanlight in an ovolo-mould opening to match. The parapet has a moulded string course and battlements and the stackhead to the left features the Diocesan arms and a lead downpipe.
The clock is at the second storey between bays two and three and features a fairly small face with drip mould painted blue, with painted hour and minute marks and Roman numerals all in gold. The hands are simple Gothic clock hands also painted gold.
