"Arquitectura comemorativa, neo-clássica. Arco triunfal de colunas jónicas a suportar a arquitrave do qual se eleva um nicho coroado de frontão triangular.
Arco semi-circular, ladeado por duas colunas jónicas, cimalha corrida e um nicho com a estátua de São Tomás de Aquino. Está inscrito numa fachada, entre pilastras, coroadas por urnas, rematadas por balaústres e por um campanário coroado por um frontão triangular, sobre um relógio no eixo do arco.
Urbano, planície, adossado, com implementação harmónica, o arco estabelece a comunicação entre a parte antiga da cidade e a ampla praça ribeirinha da baixa de Faro.
1812, 25 Outubro - Inauguração do arco, obra de Francisco Xavier Fabri erguida sobre o antigo muro, a mando do Bispo D. Francisco Gomes que mandou vir de Itália a estátua de São Tomás de Aquino, 2007, 05 dezembro - Proposta da DRCAlgarve propondo ZEP conjunta ao Núcleo Histórico de Faro, abrangendo este imóvel; 2008, 23 maio - Parecer do Conselho Consultivo do IGESPAR relativo à ZEP; 2010, 15 novembro - Proposta da DRCAlgarve para alargamento da ZEP do Património Classificado do Núcleo Histórico de Faro Vila Adentro.
DGEMN - 1968 - reconstrução de rebocos onde está implantado o arco. 1969, reparação dos estragos causados pelo sismo: apeamento e reassentamento de todas as cantarias que constituem o conjunto da sineira sobre o relógio e que se encontravam em perigo de ruírem; construção de betão armado em pilares e lintéis para estrutura resistente. Reposição do relógio e máquina na parte posterior do arco que tinha sido retirado após o sismo; CMF: 1992 - obras de recuperação."

"Commemorative architecture, neo-classical. Triumphal Arch of Ionic columns supporting the architrave of which rises a crowned niche triangular pediment.
Semi-circular arch, flanked by two Ionic columns, running cornice and a niche with the statue of St. Thomas Aquinas. He is enrolled in a facade between pilasters, crowned by urns, topped by balustrades and a bell tower crowned by a triangular pediment, on a clock in the arc axis.
Urban, plain, addorsed with harmonic implementation, the bow establishes communication between the old town and the broad riverside square in downtown Faro.
