The piece is mounted on a metal pole in a pond at the Mayo Clinic Campus. When wind hits the colorful "paddles", the sculpture moves up and down and around. It almost looks likes someone swimming. A plaque on land near the statue reads:
"Astral Tree
Mr. and Mrs. Rawleigh Warner of Hobe Sound, Florida, longtime patients and benefactors, donated this sculpture by Susumu Shingu of Japan. Its placement here, amid the water and flora, matches Mr. Shingu's philosophy of "making contact with nature by creating works right in nature.""
