This is the fourth courthouse for Licking County. The first three were built in 1809, 1815 and 1832, respectively. This structure was constructed in 1876, but in 1879, a fire destroyed the upper portions. It was replaced in 1880. It is constructed in the Second Empire style. The statues over the entrances represent impartial justice.
