Lubben Plaza in downtown Dallas provides a bit of peace, art, and shade to enjoy over lunch for workers in downtown Dallas. Lubben Plaza (and nearby WFAA Plaza) was developed by the Belo Corporation, which at the time owned WFAA-TV Channel 8 and the Dallas Morning News. Belo built a parking garage nearby and reclaimed these parking lots to start the pocket park and plaza movement that has transformed downtown Dallas.
A panel at the entry to Lubben Plaza explains its history, as follows:

Lubben Plaza is a gift to the City of Dallas by the

The Dallas Morning News
The Plaza is dedicated to The News’ longtime employees
and is named in honor of
John Lubben and his son Joseph A. Lubben.
Together the Lubbens completed 101 years of combined service as directors of the A. H. Belo Corporation and senior executives of The Dallas Morning News.
October 1, 1985"
Over the years, and as the anniversaries of various Belo properties approached, Belo added to Lubben Plaza, as detailed in a metal sign near some sculptures:
"LUBBEN PLAZA
Belo Corp. developed Lubben Plaza in 1985 to commemorate the centennial of the Dallas Morning News. It was given to the City of Dallas in honor of Belo’s long-time employees, past and present.
It is named for John F. Lubben and his son Joseph A. Lubben, who together completed 101 years of combined service to the Company.
Belo commissioned three Texas artists to produce the sculptures installed here. “Harrow,” by Linnea Glatt and “Journey to Sirius” by George Smith were installed in 1992 in commemoration of Belo’s sesquicentennial. “Gateway Stele” by Jesus Bautista Moroles was installed in 1994, when Belo developed the current Lubben East parking lot."
