Located in the south central part of Sunrise Memorial Cemetery and atop a hillside overlooking the city of Vallejo is a naval veterans cemetery section, surrounded by iron bollards. Within this small section is the grave of William S. Bond. He was a Boatswain's Mate with the U.S. Navy during the Civil War. His citation reads:

Served on board the U.S.S. Kearsarge when she destroyed the Alabama off Cherbourg, France, 19 June 1864. Carrying out his duties courageously, Bond exhibited marked coolness and good conduct and was highly recommended for his gallantry under fire by his divisional officer.
