"The West Theatre opened in August of 1941 by LAM Amusement Co.. The opening attraction was “Three Sons O'Guinn”. Designed by the GA architectural firm Tucker & Howell, it featured a relief sculpture by Julian Hoke Harris. When the West Theatre opened it was the largest theatre operated by LAM.
"Considered on the finest examples of Art Deco style in Northwest Georgia, it features hanging chandeliers in the lobby and movie cards from the 1950’s and 1960’s adorn the walls. It is still in operation today, as a twin screen movie theatre." ~ cinema treasures
"The exterior and the lobby of the West Theatre are as they looked in the 1940’s. The theatre has been twined and now shows two movies at a time. The owner, Ken Browning, has told me that the original single screen is still in place behind the newer twin screens. The balcony has been closed off.
"Mr Browwning told me that he took over the operation of the theatre in 1979 and twined it in 1986. Other members of his family also work at the theatre. They are all very friendly and enjoy talking to visitors." ~ abagads
