The lowest point in the Netherlands is in a meadow in the Zuidplaspolder northeast of Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel, situated at a height of 6.76 meters below sea level.

The lowest point in the Netherlands. Caused by draining the Zuidplaspolder in 1841. The Zuidplas (5.9 meters below sea level) was a small lake west of Gouda.

There's a monument at the Parallelweg Zuid between Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel and Moordrecht along the motorway A20. The base of the monument with inscription -6.74 NAP, the height in meters as from 1995 until 2005. This was adjusted later to 6.76 meters below sea level. The base of the monument corresponds to the level of the lowest point.
