Dedham, Maine, has a population of 1680 (2010 Census). It is a small town that commerce mainly along U.S. 1A. This road is much more rural and goes through a 'quiet' part of the town. it was established in 1837 and was named after Dedham, Massachusetts, likely due to the fact that founders of this town came from the other town. The most prominent landscape feature in town is Bald Mountain. It is the site of a cold-war era crash of an F 101 Voodoo military plane.
Dedham, Massachusetts, has a population of 24700 (2010 Census). It was named after Dedham, England, and was established in 1638. It is the county seat (shire) for Norfolk County. In its history, residents of Dedham were very industrious. In 1640, they made a canal from the Charles River to the headwaters of Mother Brook and established several mills there. Dedham also had the Rustcraft Greeting Card Company. Today, it is a commercial center as well as an inner suburb of Boston. Artist, J. J. Enneking, noted American painter, lived in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Boston, adjacent to Dedham and may have walked and painted in the Dedham area of the Neponset River Fowl Meadow.
