Legendary western writer of novels such as "The Time It Never Rained" and "The Day the Cowboys Quit." Kelton grew up on a ranch in West Texas and became one of the foremost agricultural journalists in the state. He spent 15 years as farm and ranch writer-editor for the San Angelo Standard-Times, five years as editor of Sheep and Goat Raiser Magazine and 22 years as associate editor of Livestock Weekly. He has written 40 novels and is a seven time winner of the Spur Award. He was voted the All-Time Best Western Author by the Western Writers of America in 1995.
