The area used to ba a gravel quarry, but has been converted to nature reserve. Along one of the hiking paths through the area there is a display with specimen of many different types of stone that was found in the quarry along with explanations of them and their origin. The quarry was filled by the river Rhine during the Ice Age, the stones have been brought here be glaciers and rivers from a huge area covering most of today's Switzerland. Some of the stones have their origin more than 300 kilometers away in the Alps, the Black Forest or the Jurassic Mountains.

The display is not in the very best shape, a little shabby. But it has been outdoors all the time for some years. At least you can see the specimen and read the descriptions.
Type of Display: Geological
