This tree was planted to celebrate the life of Bhavana Krishnamoorthy, a SOAS research student, who was murdered in 2004. The tree is located at the south east corner of the SOAS campus at the Thornhaugh Street entrance.

The metal plaque is attached to a concrete block that is set in the ground at the base of the tree. The inscription reads:

The tree is one of two planted at this location with both students having been murdered.
