Located in Hanger 4 of the Pima Air & Space Museum is a Ford GPW static display, along with other WWII planes in this hangar. There's an interpretive display next to this truck and it reads:

Ford GPW (General Purpose Willys) 1/4 ton Truck 4x4

In the late 1930s the Bantam Automobile Company built an off-road, light weight, prototype vehicle for military evaluation. Willys-Overland and Ford also submitted prototype vehicles in November 1940, both of which weighted in well over the revised 2,160 pound limit. Most of the early production models from the three companies were sold to Britain and her allies before the U.S. entered the war. After many revisions, the Willys design became the standard. early in 1942 the Ford variant of the Willys went into production. The mechanical systems utilized in each were standardized and were interchangeable. The jeep quickly became one of the most versatile and widely used methods of transport employed by the Allies during World War II.

Engine: One Willys Model 442, four cylinder, 134 cubic inch, 54 horsepower engine
