The Juan de Fuca Marine Trail is Canada's other great west coast trail. This trail south of Port Renfrew is just as rugged and scenic as the more famous "West Coast Trail" north of Port Renfrew. The difference is this trail has escape routes that allow day hikes and less commitment when backpacking. The Juan de Fuca Marine trail is a 47 km trail along the BC west coast from China Beach near Jordan Rover to Botanical Beach at Port Renfrew. The trail crosses many creeks than have deeply cut through the cliffs. A variety of hikers bridges allow safe crossing of the steep canyons. These range from metal suspension bridges like this at Peter Wolfe Creek to sturdy wooden bridges with handrails to a couple of split logs over smaller creeks.
