The building on this site appears to be anything but historic, but in small towns history and heritage are quite often hidden deep beneath the surface.

Town Office
The Town Office and Library are recent buildings, but the site on which they stand carries a great deal of historical significance. One of the first homesteads of the Didsbury region, claimed by Augustus M. Nanton and John H. Munson on 18 March 1892, was located here. Nanton (now 17ty( Avenue was named in honour of Mr. Nanton. The first permanent structure on the site, built in 1902, was one of the first homes built in Didsbury. In 1920, a rooming house was built next door. The land was given over to the Town of Didsbury in 1965 and the present Town Office and Library were built in 1981.
