Near Franconia, within Franconia Notch of the White Mountains, is Profile Lake, which is a location for fly fishing.
Its a bit of a walk from one of the parking lots that are north of the area. However, the going is paved. At the northern end of the pond is a small sign stating that this is a fly fishing area only. It is stocked as a trout pond.
The sign at the northern end has statements about fishing. In summary: the water is managed for trout fishery; Fly-fishing only allowed; fishing season is specified; all trout 12 to 16 inches in length shall be immediately released; and the limit is two, only one of which can be over 16 inches.
Regulations (eregulations.com)
"No person shall take brook trout 12 to 16 inches in length. All brook trout 12 to 16 inches shall be immediately released unharmed. The daily limit for brook trout shall be 2 fish, of which only one may be over 16 inches."
Profile Lake is named after a geological feature that was above the lake, known the "Old Man of the Mountain" on Profile Mountain, which is really part of Cannon Mountain. The feature fell off the mountain a few years ago. There is now a place by the lake that helps 'recreate' the profile using sculpture aids in a plaza. So, if you were looking for solitude while fishing...well, this is not hte place.
Another web site states that you can use a boat, but it must be launched from the south side of the lake.
No stream data could be found on the USGS site for this pond.
