Born in Fort Worth, Texas, Gene Autry traveled and performed with the Fields Brothers Marvelous Medicine Show. After appearing on the Oklahoma Yodeling Cowboy radio show, he was signed by Republic Pictures and in a short time was starring in his own movies. He is the founder of Flying A Productions, which produced the Gene Autry Show. Overall, he starred in 88 films, 95 television programs, and wrote more than 250 songs.
