8' tall cairn located in a roadside pullout just north of the highway, and west of highway 400. The cairn, made of mainly broken granite and cement, holds a marker denoting the completion of provincial Highway 9 from Hwy 27 to Hwy 400.
Marker text reads:
ONTARIO
DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS
This plaque commemorates the official opening of Highway 9 from Highway 27 to Highway 400 on July 28 1970, by the Honourable George E. Gomme, Minister of Highways, and the Honourable Charles S. MacNaughton, Treasurer of Ontario. It is dedicated to the memory of Major A. Alexander Mackenzie, M.C., (1885-1970), Member for York North in the Ontario Legislature from 1945 to 1967, whose efforts contributed greatly to the development of the area.
