"There is always a chance to see other wildlife while visiting; turkeys in the area year-round, bears, elk, deer, look for signs of mountain lions. Public access to a national forest via foot or horseback is just a short distance.

The Glenwood Springs Hatchery, a cold water facility, raises Mackinaw (lake) trout, rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, and kokanee salmon fingerlings and brood fish. (Brood fish are mature females and males used to produce and fertilize eggs.) Subcatchable graylings are also raised here.

This is the third-oldest hatchery in the state, established in 1905. (The Leadville National Fish Hatchery is the oldest; Durango Fish hatchery is the second-oldest.)" (from (visit link) )

Bring quarters and cups to buy and hold the fish food to feed the fish. The hatchery is open 8 am to 4 pm, year round. I have uploaded a video of feeding the fish at (visit link) .
