Restored Sherman tank located in front of the CFB Borden Officers Mess, alongside Canadian Navy anchors and a RCAF CF-5 Fighter Jet.

The Sherman is an M4 A2 version, built in 1943. It features a 75MM gun and carried a crew of five.

The marker reads:

British Sherman III (M4 A2) Medium Tank

The M4 Sherman, formally Medium Tank M4, was the primary tank used by the United States Army during World War II. It was also distributed to the allies, including Britain and Russia, via lend-lease. In the United Kingdom, the M4 was named after Union General William Tecumseh Sherman, following the British practice of naming their tanks after famous American Civil War Generals. Subsequently the British name found its way into common use in the U.S. This model is the only large-production diesel variant of the Sherman series tanks.
Location restrictions:
The tank is available for viewing 24/7 however visitors are reminded that this is an active military base and that troops and security procedures always have priority.
