The New Bay Diner Restaurant is the original name for the Route 66 Diner. It is a good example of a post-World War II stainless steel diner. It was manufactured in 1957 as model #532 by Mountain View Diners of Signac, New Jersey and shipped to Springfield, MA the same year. It is one of the last diners manufactured by this company.
The one story rectangular diner is seven bays wide and two bays deep. It has rounded corners red signs on each end of the rounded hipped roof read ROUTE 66 DINER with the word diner in neon lights. The diner has additional neon signs in many of the windows. The diner rests on a brick and concrete foundation. The main entrance is through a center vestibule and a there is a side entrance on the east side.
