Munn Park is the historic center of downtown, and since 1908 has been named for city father Abraham Godwin Munn, in recognition of his donation of land for the park. Several other fountains have been in the park since the 1920s. This large fountain stands on the approximate site of a succession of train depots, at the north end of Munn Park. It was donated to the city of Lakeland by Kirk and Sarah McKay in 1992.
A lot with metered parking is immediately north of Munn Park, accessible from Kentucky Avenue.
