A plaque adjacent to this old well states that it was constructed prior to 1763, filled and partially destroyed during the British occupation (1763-1784), and restored in 1975 as a Bicentennial project of the City of St. Augustine. This old "Plaza Well" was designated as an American Water Landmark in 1981 (visit link).
