As described by the National Geodetic Survey in 1996 (although already monumented by the CGS back in 1918):

"IN HOUSTON, AT THE INTERSECTION OF NORTH SAN JACINTO AND CAPITOL STREETS, SET VERTICALLY IN THE NORTHWEST FACE OF THE [old] POST OFFICE, 26.5 M (86.9 FT) SOUTHWEST OF THE CENTER OF CAPITOL STREET, 24.3 M (79.7 FT) SOUTHEAST OF THE CENTER OF SAN JACINTO, 9.1 M (29.9 FT) NORTHEAST OF THE CENTER OF THE MOST NORTHEASTERLY OF 2 ENTRANCES, 1.4 M (4.6 FT) ABOVE THE LEVEL OF A SIDEWALK, AND 0.8 M (2.6 FT) SOUTHWEST OF THE NORTH CORNER OF THE BUILDING."

The 1996 description (which supersedes an older 1973 NGS description) and its associated reference points -- i.e. distances/directions -- are still good references for locating this station; just one minor correction might be in order:
* the "POST OFFICE" reference is no longer valid, the building is better known as the "old US Custom House", and is currently used as a Military Entrance Processing Station.

That said, the station's associated NGS Data Sheet's posted coordinates seem to be a little off, at least at the time of this waymark's posting. Its most recent associated NGS Data Sheet reports it as "N 29 45 27.96 W 095 21 41.16" (i.e. "N 29° 45.466 W 95° 21.686"), which points to a location ~30 ft away from the actual BM. The actual coordinates, as measured within 10' accuracy and 20+ reading averages, were "N 29° 45.469 W 095° 21.682".

The station was recovered in good condition; see posted waymark's gallery images for BM close-up and setting details. Some additional pictures are also available on the NGS website itself.
