This mural is part of an elaborate Spanish-American War Memorial on the 3rd floor of the Massachusetts State House in Boston.

A quote by Calvin Coolidge accompanies and explains the mural:
"Landing in Porto Rico in 1898 carrying the flag of a united country
extending the jurisdiction of the United States over a new empire and bringing many millions of oppressed people within the domain ofliberty."
The mural depicts several American soldiers with rifles and pistols. One seems about to shoot while others are getting in position to do the same while others are marching and two others march with flags. One flag is the US flag while the other may be the flag of the US Army.
This mural is on the right side of the War Memorial but does not seem to be considered a part of it..at least by the Smithsonian Inventory. See (

The Memorial is dated 1907 but there is no info at the site about the date and artist for the mural.
The State House is open to the public from *8:45 am to 5 pm. at no charge.
