This elm slab came from a tree which was approximately 110 years old. Stood near the visitor center and died in 1968 of Dutch elm disease. On placards placed on the display it shows different events George Washington Carver's life and the establishment of the National Monument. George Washington Carver National Monument is open 9 AM to 5 PM year round except New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
