Soon after end of WWI and desintegration of Austro-Hungarian Empire was originally united historic Silesian city on Olza river, Tešín (Cieszyn), divided into two independent towns - Ceský Tešín in Czechoslovakia and Cieszyn in Poland.
The Piast Tower (Wieza Piastowska), the remains of the medieval Gothic Piast castle, is one of the oldest architectural treasures of Cieszyn Silesia. It is almost 29 m high, and after climbing its 121 steps you emerge onto a viewing terrace from which you can see a panorama of Cieszyn and Ceský Tešín and even mountain peaks.
