This Cut Benchmark with Bolt is located in the masonry of the railway viaduct through the centre of Shifnal. It is partially obscured by the brick wall, and unfortunately the Bolt is no longer visible. It was included on the Llandysilio to Stafford levelling line. The surveyor's description was No. 69. Bolt in North-east corner of West pier of Shiffnal Railway Viaduct ; 1.76 ft. above surface (p587).
It was used during the first primary levelling of England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 285.2470 feet [86.9433 metres] above mean sea level (Liverpool datum).
