WMN8MJ is for the dam. Others have waymarked the fish ladders below this dam. The American River flows into the Sacramento River which includes releases from other Central Valley water projects at Shasta Lake, Lake Oroville, Lake Trinity. The goal of these was to provide water storage and hydroelectric power for the increasing population of the Sacramento Valley.
