The kugel ball at Neutorplatz is the center piece of a paved stone mosaic compass rose, that shows the direction and the coats of arms of the next major cities, Colmar in the west, Strassbourg in the north, Freiburg in the east and Basel in the south.
It is a red to brown stone ball with a diameter of somewhat above half a meter, mounted on a base from a raw light grey stone. There is an ice cream parlor just next to it and kids love to play with the ball, while the parents have a rest inside.
