The brigade being formed to the rear and left of this position was sent to the left to assist Polk’s brigade. Reaching the vicinity of Polk’s line the brigade attacked the Union works and was enfiladed from their east’s salient. Its left was driven back the right was ordered to cease firing and the brigade then retired to the vicinity of its first position from which it was moved to the right and forward to this line where it remained until about 5 o’clock. At that hour it was ordered forward and crossed the Lafayette road.

Note
Trailhead Graphics, Inc. has produced a map of the Chickamauga Battlefield showing the locations of all of the monuments and the markers on the battlefield. Each location on the map has a number associated with it that cross-references to an index on the back of the map that has the name of the marker (called the Chick-Chatt NMP monument numbering system). This number corresponds to the structure Number listed on the NPS List of Classified Structures that is normally prefixed with the letters MT for the Chickamauga Battlefield.
