This plaque is dedicated to Strahl's Brigade, commanded by Brig. Gen. Otho F. Strahl in recognition of their service during the Battle of Chickamauga, fought September 19–20, 1863. The plaque describes the action on Sept. 20, 1863 at 6:00 pm. This is one of three plaques to Strahl's Brigade on the battlefield.

To reach this monument:

Text on the plaque reads:

This Brigade remained with its division in reserve a mile and a half southeast of this ground until about 2 P.M. subject to severe artillery fire killing and wounding several men. About this hour it was ordered to the extreme right and formed on the left of Smith’s Brigade which was on the left and rear of Forrest’s Calvary. Near 6 P.M. it moved with the general advance of the right wing as a support to Liddell’s division then engaged in front reaching this position as the enemy retired in bivouacked on this ground.

Note
Trailhead Graphics, Inc. has produced a map of the Chickamauga Battlefield showing the locations of all of the monuments and the markers on the battlefield. Each location on the map has a number associated with it that cross-references to an index on the back of the map that has the name of the marker (called the Chick-Chatt NMP monument numbering system). This number corresponds to the structure Number listed on the NPS List of Classified Structures that is normally prefixed with the letters MT for the Chickamauga Battlefield.
