This monument is dedicated to
1st Michigan Artillery, Battery D , commanded by Capt. Josiah W. Church, in recognition of their service during the
Battle of Chickamauga, fought September 19–20, 1863. This is one of six monuments to the 1st Michigan Artillery, Battery D on the battlefield. It marks their location on the morning of Sept. 19, 1863.

Parking is available on Reed's Bridge Road at N 34° 56.3239 W 85° 14.5126
From the parking area on Reed’s Bridge Road, follow the path south west. Pass the marker for the 82nd Indiana Regiment.
