Der Norisring ist ein sogenannter Stadtkurs, d.h. er findet auf gesperrten Strassen statt. Außerhalb des Rennens ist nur die historische Zeppelintribühne zu besichtigen. Am 18. Mai 1947 fand hier erstmals ein Motorradrennen statt. Nürnberg war damals Sitz zahlreicher Motorradhersteller wie Hecker, Mars, Triumph, Victoria, Hercules und Zündapp. Ab 1948 fanden auch Autorennen statt, heute vor allem Rennen der DTM.

The Norisring is a street circuit in Nuremberg, a simple track which is nowadays approx. 2,300 metres (1.4 mi) long. Since May 18, 1947, motorracing events around the remaining 360 metres (0.22 mi) long grand stand (Zeppelintribühne) are held on streets that are otherwise used for public traffic. The annual mid-July Norisring race is considered a highlight of the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters series, the track and this event is compared to the Monaco Grand Prix. The grand stand is open to the public anytime.
