In the 1950's, a pavement clock was installed near here, by the jeweller and clockmaker Sir Cyril Dyson, just outside his business. That clock was removed sometime in the mid-to-late 1980s, and was not replaced until 28 January, 2011. On that date, a replacement clock was unveiled by Mayor Cllr Catherine Bursnall at an official ceremony, when it was also announced that a TIME CAPSULE had been placed under the replacement clock, and to quote, Cllr Rayner said: "In 50 years' time when they have to maintain the clock for the first time they'll see what Windsor life was like in 2010 and 2011."
