Der mächtige steinerne Teufelstisch, das Wahrzeichen des Dahner-Felsenlandes, ist umgeben von einer geheimnisvollen Sage. Eines Nachts ging der Teufel hier spazieren. Sehr müde und hungrig suchte er nach einem Rastplatz. Mit glühenden Augen durchforstete er den gesamten Pfälzerwald.
Nirgends konnte er eine Stelle finden, die seinem Anspruch gerecht wurde. Voller Wut und Zorn ergriff er drei riesige Felsbrocken und richtete sie zu einem Tisch zusammen. Nachdem er dort gespeist hatte, brach er wieder auf. Den Tisch ließ er zurück.
Als die ersten Sonnenstrahlen die Nacht vertrieben, erblickten die Menschen das Werk. Viele waren sich sicher „Hier muss der Teufel gespeist haben!“ Nur einer gab sich mutig und ungläubig. „Das kann nicht sein, dann will ich die folgende Nacht sogleich mit ihm speisen!“.
Als die Sonne hinter den Felsen langsam verschwand, zog der junge Mann los. Zur zwölften Stunde unterbrach in weiter Ferne ein bitterlicher Schrei die Ruhe der Nacht. Der junge Mann ward nie wieder gesehen und das geheimnisvolle Werk bekam den Namen „Teufelstisch“.

The massive stone Teufelstisch, the symbol of the Dahn Rock country is surrounded by a mysterious legend. One night, walked the devil here. Very tired and hungry he was looking for a resting place. With glowing eyes he went through the entire Palatinate Forest.
He never could find a spot that was his claim. Full of rage and anger, he took three huge boulders, and put it together into a table. After he had dined there, he set out again. He left the table.
When the first rays of the sun drove the night, people saw the work. Many were unsure "Here, the devil must have fed!" Only one was bravely and disbelief. "That can not be, I will immediately dine with him the next night!".
As the sun slowly disappeared behind the rocks, the young man went out. At the eleventh hour a bitter cry interrupted in the distance the rest of the night. The young man was never seen again and the mysterious plant was named "Devil's Table".
