EN: The Church of Valendas is located in a slightly elevated position at the northern edge of the village inside a churchyard. The late Gothic church was first documented in 1481 as the successor of a Romanic predecessor, of which parts of the steeple were taken over.

According to legend, the church was occupied by Catholic forces in the Grison turmoil of the 17th century, and it was not destroyed only because they found three pictures of saints in there, that had not been removed, contrary to custom, after the Reformation. The valuable glass paintings from the 16th century were sold to a private collector in 1912 and replaced by new ones.

DE: Die Kirche von Valendas steht etwas erhöht am nördlichen Dorfrand in einem Kirchhof. Erstmals urkundlich erwähnt wurde die spätgotische Kirche 1481 als Nachfolger eines romanischen Vorgängers, von dem auch Teile des Turms stammen.

Nach der Legende wurde die Kirche in den Bündner Wirren des 17. Jahrhunderts von katholischen Truppen besetzt und nur deshalb nicht zerstört, weil diese dort drei Heiligenbilder vorfanden, die, entgegen der Sitte, auch nach der Reformation nicht entfernt worden waren. Die wertvollen Glasmalereien aus dem 16. Jahrhundert wurden 1912 an einem privaten Sammler verkauft und durch neue ersetzt.
