This monument is dedicated to
17th Ohio Infantry Regiment in recognition of their service during the
Battle of Chickamauga, fought September 19–20, 1863. This is one of three monuments to the 17th Ohio Infantry Regiment on the battlefield. It marks their location on Sept. 19, 1863 from 10:00 A. M. to 11:00 A. M.
To reach this monument:
Parking is available on Reed's Bridge Road at N 34° 56.3239 W 85° 14.5126
From the parking area on Reed’s Bridge Road, follow the path south west. Pass the marker for the 82nd Indiana Regiment. A path running east-west will intersect the path you are on. Turn west toward Alexander’s Bridge Road. The marker will be on the north side of the path.

A 1'6" x 1'6" x 3' high granite obelisk with a raised letter inscription. Marks regiment's position along Reed's Bridge Road near old turnpike site on September 19, 1863, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
