This old steel clad elevator makes a fine landmark for the town of Plains, and for the business within, the Grainry Gallery.

The sign on the side of the elevator, sufficiently faded as to be nearly unreadable, indicates that the elevator was once owned by the Stephens Grain Company. we have no idea how long ago Stephens shut the doors and the Montana Department of Agriculture no longer lists any licensed grain buyers in Sanders County.

The elevator has been repurposed and is home to the Grainry Gallery, an antique and used goods store. Their catch phrase: "Antiques, Gifts, New Used and a lil'bit of everything". They are housed in a large warehouse attached to the elevator and have been there, according to their Facebook Page, at least ten years. They always have a lot of antiques on hand, particularly antique furniture and knick knacks.

Another sign on the building says "Visitor Center", but we can't vouch for that.
