Nk'Mip Man and Horse 2 is very well executed amongst some large rocks. Arms stretched out, palm up in a gesture of peace and welcome to visitors and passersby. This is a fairly new addition to the collection First Nations art works on display throughout Osoyoos.
Collaboratively designed by Chief Clarence Louie of the Osoyoos Indian Band, and Okanagan artist, Virgil “Smoker” Marchand of the Colville Confederated Tribes in Omak, Washington.
The spectacular Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre (pronounced in-ka-meep) is the Okanagan’s newest family tourism destination.
The state-of-the-art interpretive centre is an architectural marvel sensitively constructed into a hillside. Extensive indoor and outdoor exhibit galleries create a fun, interactive learning environment with hands-on displays, education stations and two multi-media theatre experiences.
Discover the fascinating stories of Canada’s only desert and share in the rich living culture of the Okanagan people.
