Brunswick's Outdoor Early Warning Siren
System was part of a grant awarded in 2003 and finalized in 2005. The funds were available through the Federal
Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
The system
will alert persons to seek shelter in the event of a serious weather threat. It
is activated by the Police Department's Communication Center. This is one of six sirens installed in the
city of Brunswick. The sirens operate from battery power that is
constantly recharged by electricity. This will allow the system to operate,
even during a power failure. Testing
takes place once a month on Saturday at Noon.
