We visited Dave's Goat Walk before Feed the Animals even existed. So, who knew? Looking at some of the old pictures, I noticed a feed dispenser and the sign . On our way home from Atlantic Canada, we stopped by again:
Feed the Goats
At the Log Barn is an elevated walkway which has a ramp allowing the goats access to the top. Dry corn is dispensed for a quarter giving you a handful of corn. Now the fun begins. Nearby is a rope and pulley with a small cup attached. Putting the corn in the cup, the hungrier (or smarter) of the goats, on the walkway, are watching the proceedings. Once they see that there is corn in the cup they use their feet, heads, tongues or whatever works to turn the large pulley at the top, thereby elevating the cup up to their waiting mouths. At the top the cup tips and they quickly gobble up the corn before any interlopers can steal any. Then the tourist type lowers the cup and the cycle repeats - ad infinitum.
