The simple gray granite headstone is located in the Cantrell family plot, and has the following inscription, with the dates flanking his pilot wings:

1st Lt. O.L. Cantrell Jr.
1918 * 1943

The bomber flies over mountains, through the rays of a setting sun. According to Findagrave, (visit link) Lt. Cantrell was the pilot of U.S. Army Air Corps B-24D Liberator #42-40139, serving with the 380th Bomb Group, 530th Bomb Squadron. He and his co-pilot were killed in a crash, fifteen miles north of Biggs Field, El Paso, TX.
