Poppies

As a long standing tradition in Canada, the poppy symbolizes honor and respect for all Veterans who served in the Canadian Armed Services.

The mural shows two large poppies with a partial passage from the poem, "In Flanders Fields" by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae.

The poem was inspired after McCrae presided over the burial of a friend and fellow soldier during the First World War. The poem was first published in 1915.

Also at this location is a large cenotaph honoring Veterans from WWI, WWII and Korea. Several plaques are on the other side of the mural. From All Poetry

All the murals are well done paying tribute to the artist's talent and creativity for any passersby to enjoy.
