Near Marietta and part of the Chickies County Park is the Marietta Access boat ramp to the Susquehanna River.

The ramp is located off PA Route 441. From US 30,go north and pass through parking lots for Chickies County Park, then turn left onto Furnace Road to the Musselman-Vesta Visitor Center. Turn left onto the paved road and travel under the railroad bridge to the ramp to the left or the the parking lot to the right.

There is a large sign stating "Marietta Access." The large logo on the left is for the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. Below it is the statement, "Maintained by Lancaster County Dept. of Parks and Rec."

The Susquehanna River is a very interesting river to be on. Here, the river is very wide and shallow. I found a web site that discusses boating on the river and reinforces my observations. Not all boat ramps are for all types of boats at all times. The article mentioned that the river north of US 30 is best for canoe and shallow boats while the river south of US 30 is better for motor boats with a 'V' hull. There are many rocks on this river that can be just under the surface that you better either study the river well before going on or, as the article suggests, ask a native.

Fees are not collected at this location. However there are a Launch Permit and Boat Registration that may apply.
