The Stearns Memorial Gate is a gateway arch is constructed of brownstone blocks. A large central arch accommodates vehicles and two smaller arches on each side are for pedestrians.
On top of the arch is the date 1895 above the inscription FAIRVIEW. There are plaques in the pedestrian openings both in honor of George M. Stearns. They are inscribed:
