The center point of the University of Texas at Austin's main tower roof is a NGS benchmark ("AG9976")... and so is a more "standard" horizontal control disk just a few feet away by the tower's limited-access observation deck ("BM1132").

As described by the U.S. Geological Survey in 1952:
"THE CENTER OF THE TOWER OF THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS ADMINISTRATION BUILDING AND LIBRARY. THIS TOWER IS ABOUT 150 FT. TALL AND IS THE HIGHEST AND MOST IMPOSING STRUCTURE IN THE CITY OF AUSTIN. STATION MARK--THE POINT SIGHTED ON WAS A TRANSPARENT DOME WITH LIGHT AT TOP AND CENTER OF THE TOWER."
Please note the following addendums to USGS's 1952 description:
* The tower is actually 307 ft (94 m) tall, not "about 150 ft." It was completed in 1937, and was definitely not any shorter back in 1952.
* The UT Tower is no longer the "highest" or "most imposing" structure in the city of Austin... While it is still quite imposing from an architectural point of view (on top of a hill), the "highest" honor now goes to the Austonian, a 683 feet (208 m) residential skyscraper located approximately 1.5 miles away and 125 feet "downhill" from this particular benchmark.
Below are some additional facts, per the NGS database (with some editing for length): (
