Okanagan Lake is 135 km long and stretches from Vernon to the north and to Penticton to the south. The lake is home to the legionary Ogopogo.
During the summer, tourists and locals alike flock to the sandy beaches that border the lake. In the Kelowna area it is not uncommon to see 100s of sailboats on the lake.
Pictured is a gaff-rigged racing ketch circa 1905. The gaff is a spar that extends the uppermost edge of the four cornered mainsail. It was the only two-masted sailboat on Okanagan Lake.
Okanagan Lake is also home to Ogopogo.
