Merritt, British Columbia is nicknamed the "Country Music Capital of Canada"
Annually for the last 12 years Merritt hosts the Mountain Music Festival. The festival draws over 15,000 fans that come to Merritt to enjoy the music of some of Country Music biggest stars.
Some of the artists featured in these murals are Montana Slim, Charlie Chamberlain, Don Messer, Orville Prophett, Catherine McKinnon Hank Snow, Patsy Cline and others unknown to us.
"Wilf" Carter, also known as Montana Slim, was a Canadian country music singer, songwriter, guitarist, and yodeller.
Charlie Chamberlain was a featured entertainer on Don Messer's Jubilee, which ran from 1957 through 1969 on CBC Television.
Don Messer was a Canadian musician and defining icon of folk music during the 1960s.
Orville (Orval) Prophett was among the first Canadian country music performers to achieve a career of international scope.
Catherine is a Canadian actress and folk/pop singer.
Hank Snow's career spanned nearly 50 years, he recorded 140 albums and charted more than 85 singles on the Billboard country charts from 1950 until 1980.
Patsy Cline is always remembered for her Number One hit songs:
